Rewind, Revisit, Rediscover. A series of rewatching film's I haven't seen in a while.
Let's look at....
Atonement 2007
the visuals...
It's been a long time since I've rewatched this film, and November is the perfect month. This oscar-nominated film is littered with an assortment of talented cast including, James McAvoy, Keira Knightley and a very young Saoirse Ronan.
Still to this day, it has one of the most impressive one-take tracking shots through the beach of Dunkirk with hundreds of extras, sorry Nolan.
I watched this at a younger age and the visuals have stayed with me ever since. It didn't take film school for me to acknowledge its beautifully soft and luminous cinematography. Where each frame reminded me of a renaissance impressionist painting. With it's melodic score to set the tone, and most exquisite use of perspective and narrative, it has remained to be one of my favorites today.
